Yoga Postures

1. The Spinal Roll or Rocking Exercise

This is a nice exercise to get rid of the drowsiness and fatigue that you feel when waking in the morning. As you do this exercise, you will feel an powerful sensation and flexibility because it relaxingly massages your spine. It is also a good treatment for insomnia since it helps you to sleep soundly.

2. The Shoulder Stand (Sarvangasana)

This asana is sometimes called “candle” because the body is kept straight as a candle in this posture.This exercise is good for your thyroid gland which control your body weight and youthful appearance. Additionally, it also purify the blood and produce good circulation.

3. The Plough Posture (Halasana)

This is the best posture to make the spine flexible. It stretches the spine as no other exercise can. It benefits the thyroid gland, liver and spleen. This posture is recommended for people suffering from stiffness, obesity, muscular rheumatism, enlarged liver and spleen, constipation, indigestion, and arthritis.

4. Forward Bend Posture (Padahastasana)

This posture benefits for constipation, low back pain.It also stimulates organs and glands in the abdominal area, such as the kidneys, liver and pancreas. moreover, it stretches the hamstring muscles of the thighs.

5. Lotus Pose (Padmasana)

This is one of the basic yoga postures.It is extremely good pose for meditation and concentration.It also makes your mind and nerves calm,keeps your spine straight and improves your personality.

6. The Fish Posture (Matsyasana)

This posture is good for the thyroid, pituitary and adrenal glands. It stretches the neck, strengthens and adjusts the nervous system, the kidneys, the stomach and intestines, the pelvic organs, and the nerves connected with sex functions (a must try then!). This exercise benefits people with asthma.

7. The Twist Posture (Ardha Matsyendrdsana)

This is the only asana which twists the spine. The other asanas stretch the spine in the forwards and backwards direction.This exercise is very helpful for obesity, indigestion,constipation and asthma. It’s good for the adrenal glands, kidneys, liver and spleen.

8. Perfect Pose, Accomplished Pose (Siddhasana)

Siddhasana means “Perfect Pose” since one attains perfection in Yoga by meditating in this position. It is one of the most popular meditation postures and useful to learn. The positions of the legs and the hands also contain the body energies by closing the circuits and allowing awakened vital forces to remain in the system during meditation practice.

9. Peacock posture (mayurasana)

This is an elegant posture showing your strength of your body.It is very helpful for the digestive organs because it adapts intra-abdominal pressure.So this exercise is good for constipitation,piles and obesity.Moreover, it develops the chests.

10. The Headstand (Shirshasana)

It is called the “king of asanas” because of its overall effect on the whole body. It is an extremely powerful asana. For beginners, it is better to start this in a corner for avoiding fear of falling down and breaking your neck! This posture increases circulation to the brain and improved brain function likes intelligence and memory and increased vitality and confidence. It improves nervousness, tension, fatigue, sleeplessness, dullness, fear, poor blood circulation, bad memory, asthma, headaches, constipation, congested throat, liver or spleen, for female disorders, the initial stages of eye and nose troubles, and general lack of energy, vitality or self confidence. It also activates four of the most important endocrine glands - the pituitary, the pineal, the thyroid, and the parathyroid glands.
